PAEAINA HAWAIIAN SHIRT
The Paeaina shirt is typical of a category of Hawaiian shirts that deal with maps, island views, and navigation. The Hawaiian word "Paeaina" means "Map" and also "Line". Given that a map is an informational representation (rather than depictive) visual description, it is easy to see how the two words are used in this instance interchangeably. The Paeaina is a wonderful map shirt depicting all the islands (Niihau is incorrectly placed to the north of Kauai, Kahoolawe misplaced to the south of Maui), showing Diamond Head, ships, palms, and waves.
